Android 4.4 Kit-Kat RollOut Schedule

Google, HTC, Samsung, Sony, LG and Motorola

Android™ 4.4 Kit Kat
Google typically updates Nexus devices with new operating systems immediately after the new operating system’s release. However, Google released the Nexus 5 on Google Play side by side with Android™ 4.4 Kit-Kat just days after Google leaked the Nexus 5 description and price, but didn’t roll out 4.4 to everyone yet.
Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 owners are still waiting for Kit-Kat update – as are Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition owners. Those devices still feature the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.
When can Android phone users expect the Kit-Kat update rollout?
Nexus & Google Play Editions
The answer to that question depends largely on what type of Android phone you own.
Engadget says the HTC One Google Play edition will update by November 14, and HTC America’s president Jason Mackenzie confirmed that detail in an interview with the site.
Though a firm date was not set for the Samsung Galaxy S4, it will probably see the update at the same time as the HTC One GPE. When asked about the Kit-Kat rollout on HTC devices, Mackenzie said:
“The Developer edition and unlocked versions will get it within 30 days and the remaining SKUs in North America (including all carrier variants) will have it in 90 days or less.”
That means the Developer edition of the HTC One will see its update by November 31, and the non-Google Play edition of HTC One by January 31, 2014, though the rest of the devices have no firm update rollout scheduled. HTC UK is rolling out the HTC One update in “late January,” says the International Business Times.
2014 Kit-Kat Rollout Schedules

Android 4.3 Jellybean
Samsung Update: Samsung devices will likely not be updated until the end of January 2014 at the earliest. The company has yet to update some of its Android devices to 4.3 Jelly Bean including the Note 2 – which hasn’t been updated since its release.
This leaves us to wonder whether Samsung will simply bypass 4.3 in favor of 4.4, or if the company will give its users a choice between the two. In any case, according to SamMobile, Samsung started testing on November 5 that will determine when the Galaxy Note 3 rollout will come.
LG G2 Updates: According to a leaked rollout schedule via the IBT, the LG G2 will get Kit-Kat sometime in November/December. Other devices have not been mentioned, but are expected to receive Kit-Kat in 2014 as well.
Droid Updates: Motorola confirmed that Droid Ultra, Droid MAXX, Moto Mini, and Droid Mini will definitely receive the Kit-Kat update, but the company has not yet set a schedule to do so.
Sony Updates: While Sony has implied that its Xperia line will receive the update to Kit-Kat this week, most of the line is still waiting for Sony to update their devices to 4.3 Jelly Bean, after having been promised the update more than four months ago. However, we think Sony could skip 4.3 altogether, or offer users a choice. We also think the 4.3 delay is because Sony got wind that Kit-Kat was coming and didn’t want to waste resources with a soon to be outdated update.
That’s all the update schedules we have for now, but we’ll be sure to let you know if any others are released – don’t forget to subscribe so you can get these updates delivered to your inbox! What device do you have waiting for Kit-Kat? Let us know in the comments below!
